Bretzelsonndeg (Pretzel Sunday) is a Luxembourgish tradition celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent.
On this day, a man gives a sweet pretzel to the person he loves. If she returns his feelings, she gives him a chocolate egg on Easter Sunday; if not, she gives him an empty basket, symbolising rejection.
In leap years, the roles have reversed.
